World’s fastest supercomputers

K Computer (Japan): Japan’s K Computer is considered as the world’s top supercomputer on the semiannual list of the world. It is the fact that the speed of this computer is three times faster than the second fastest super computer and is considered as more powerful than other next supercomputers. The supercomputers are used for specific tasks like weather forecasting, stock trading and simulating weapons tests. This supercomputer is built by Fujitsu. There are 68,544 central processing units in this K super computer. Each CPU is configured with eight cores. It is considered as twice than other supercomputer on the top 500. There is a special meaning of word K. K stands for ‘kej’. ‘Kej’ means for ten quadrillions. It means this supercomputer is capable to calculate more than 8 quadrillion calculations in one second. This supercomputer comprises of more than 800 computer racks. Riken Institute for Physical and Chemical Research in Kobe, Japan is using this supercomputer.
