News report on North Eastern tourism region on The Telegraph, titled "Sylvan vistas beckon tourists", made us realize again how beautiful and enchanting our regions are. As per the report, North Eastern region has the highest growth in tourism in the country in both foreign and domestic categories. The upcoming master plan to develop the sector in the area will be a good boon to us. It writes, "The growth rate in foreign tourist rate in the North East in 2010-11 was 6.09 per cent, while in the domestic sector the rate was 8.09 per cent compared to the all India rate of 7 per cent". Initiative steps taken up by North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited like having a discussion on issues concerning the tourism sector in the Northeast with a total of 150 tour operators attending the meeting etc are a must call.
