14.10.2011, 17:51, Tatyana Zavyalova, Five Russian films will screen in the Indian city of Mumbai as it extends a warm welcome to the guests and participants of the 13th Mumbai Film Festival running from the 13th to the 21st of October with organizers hoping to eclipse all previous Mumbai forums. Some 200 films from more than 30 countries arrived in India’s Bollywood. What is most unusual about this year’s event is that only director’s debuts were picked for the competition program. Fourteen contestants have a chance to wake up famous, among them Russia’s Viktor Ginzburg with his screen adaptation of Viktor Pelevin’s cult novel “Generation P”, a bitterly sarcastic story about the so-called Pepsi Generation in Russia. Ginzburg’s first full-length work landed on the “must see films” list of the Toronto festival and was showered with invitations from other movie forums, but only as a guest film, while in Mumbai it is a full-blooded competitor.
