Thousands of tourists are stranded in Everest Region of Nepal due to snowfall. Local media reports say bad weather has stranded over 1500 tourists in Everest region as all flights are cancelled to Lukla and Phaplu airports. Snowfall in Himalayas has gounded flights for past 4 days. Thousands of tourists including hikers are stranded for past 4 days in the region. With temperature going down below minus 20, it is becoming difficult for the tourists to stay any longer. Usually 60 flights fly from Lukla airport to Kathmandu per day. But it requires clear skies to fly flights from the airport. In past 3-4 days snowfall has lowered the visibility in the region which is quite dangerous to operate flights. Most international tourists have to catch their flights back home from Kathmandu. Several tourists have already missed their flights as they are stranded in Everest region. There have been few conflicts over the hotel rooms in last couple of days.
