The train over the River Kwai | The New Indian Express

Luxury travel is an unhurried experience. Private jets for personal travel is for Hollywood’s noveau riche or footballers’ wives. The cachet of a great luxury train is a combination of personalised experience and passing through fairytale landscapes. The Orient Express, that timeless symbol of luxury train travel has many contemporary cousins. The Eastern & Oriental Express Experience that journeys through the exotic vistas of South East Asia is one. The train departs from Bangkok and passes the historic River Kwai and heads into Malaysia, whistling past colonial Georgetown and Fort Cornwallis over the Straits of Johor before arriving in Singapore.
