It has more than 5000 premium apps, which will be available at the Vodacom App Store and would sell from R5 to R50. One of the premium apps include the ‘Easy K53’ app, a locally developed premium app which is available for free until the end of this month. The app will be sold for R30. This app prepares users for their K53 driver’s licence test, said Prins Mhlanga, managing executive of digital media at Vodacom. Other unique apps include Expenza, a locally developed app that enables users to keep track of their expenses, and SMS Replier, which sends automatic replies when you are driving. Vodacom launched its App Store in September with more than 140000 free apps. Mr Mhlanga said customer uptake of free apps "was fantastic, with over 500000 downloads in the first three months of launch. We believe the market is ready to experience premium apps and we are very pleased we’re able to offer even more choice to our customers." He said customers could use their contract or prepaid accounts to pay for their apps. Source: BusinessDay
