The New Indian Express, By Ashok Kumar Shaw: Solve this equation four doctors + one MBA + passion for food = ? The answer is Fusion 9 at Nungambakkam in Chennai. Then, we came across the owners of Fusion 9 from Hyderabad through common friends and found the restaurant a complete package where good wine and dinner can be had under one roof.” After numerous brainstorming sessions and surveys to check the feasibility of running Fusion 9 in Chennai, the ‘restrobar’ was finally launched with much fanfare in December 2010. Dr Rajkumar Palaniappan, another partner of Fusion 9 says, “For years, I was known as a gastroenterologist, but after the launch I am being recognised as an owner of a restrobar.” Add to this list of doctors and MBAs is a model cum assistant director, Sruti Harihara Subramanian, who runs Ashvita Fine Dining at Mylapore in Chennai with her husband, Ashwin. “We were always passionate about food. We started with a small-time cafe in our Ashvita Art Gallery. As part of our makeover plans, Ashvita Fine Dining took shape,” recalls Sruti, who takes care of the marketing, design and over-all look of the restaurant.
