Google's new privacy policy to come into effect from March 1

News BulletNew Delhi: Web Giant Google unveiled its new privacy policy amid concerns over potential misuse of data and breach of privacy. According to Google's new privacy policy that will come into effect from March 1, the company is "getting rid of over 60 different privacy policies across Google services and replacing them with one that's shorter, easier to read" and something that will enable it to "create intuitive experience across Google". Unlike in the past when Google had allowed users to choose personalized services, this time there is no option to opt out. For an end-user this means that whatever information he
shares through Google searches, Gmail, Google +, Picassa etc will be used to customize Google services for him. Google also provides a few illustrations in support of its argument. "Whether you’re reading an email that reminds you to schedule a family get-together or finding a favourite video that you want to share, we want to ensure that you can move across Gmail, Calendar, Search, YouTube or whatever your life calls for, with ease", it writes on its Website. What’s different about the new Privacy Policy? Google claims to have written the Privacy Policy from top to bottom to be simpler and more readable. The new policy replaces more than 60 existing product-specific privacy documents. Expert's view: Pavan Duggal, an expert in Cyber Law says that if one accepts entire norms one is in for trouble in future. According to him Duggal the new rules would cause invasion of privacy and would offer no control over personal information. "Google will use personal information without permission. One way out is sensitive information should not be saved since they will be shared with everyone," he says. Source: News Bullet
