Is Alien Abduction Art Realism or Science Fiction?

Studio Art 12 - Crit Class
Alien Abductions: What you think of alien abduction art largely depends on whether or not you regard alien abduction stories as true events or some fantasy produced by a twisted mind wrapped up in fantasy. As time has gone on, there has been more and more alien abduction art produced, in posters, t-shirts, prints, and other graphic forms. All you have to do is search "Google Images" with the search term "alien abduction art" and you'll be able to access hundreds, if not thousands of images of people being abducted by small gray-skinned, big-headed aliens, or being lifted into a hovering saucer by a beam of bright light. But what are these images, really? Are they depictions of actual experiences as many victims of alien abduction stories allege, or are they just fantasies that are more properly related to science fiction stories and movies than they are to actual historical occurrences? The fact remains that many Americans firmly believe that alien abduction reports are true, and not only are they true, but they're happening all of the time. So the question remains, is alien abduction art showing us events that have actually happened, or some nutjob's wish fulfillment of being whisked away by superior beings? The truth is out there somewhere. Source: Alien Abductions 247Image: flickr.com
