Russia orbits research satellite

The Russian Progress M-13M space freighter, which undocked from the International Space Station on Tuesday, has deployed a research micro-satellite to stay in orbit for at least four years studying lightnings and thunderstorms in the Earth's atmosphere.The Chibis-M probe weights about 40 kg and carries about 12 kg of equipment to study high-altitude powerful pulses of gamma-and X-ray that sometimes accompany thunderstorms, including the Terrestrial Gamma Ray Flashes phenomena.Tags: satellite, Chibis-M, Progress, space, Sci-Tech, Russia, News, Читать далее, Source: Voice of Russia
