Russian scientists have resumed the drilling of a hole in the ice of Lake Vostok in the Antarctic.Lake Vostok is a reservoir of unfrozen water under a 4-kms thick layer of ice. According to the scientists’ estimates, it was covered with ice several million years ago, and has been cut off from the outer world ever since. Scientists believe that exploring the water of Lake Vostok and the ground at its bottom can help us to learn more about climate changes on Earth in faraway epochs.Tags: Russia, Antarctic, News, Society, World, scientific researches, Читать далее, Source: Voice of Russia.
