Chariot festival at Ahobilam

Allagadda (Kurnool): The chariot festival of Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, which was organised as part of the ongoing Brahmostavams, marked religious fervour and gaiety in Ahobilam in Allagadda mandal on Thursday. A large number of devotees thronged the temple to witness the procession of the deity in the chariot. The event was conducted in presence of 45th pontiff Narayanayatindra Mahadesikan and 46th pontiff Rangarajan Yatindra Mahadesikan. The presiding deity was decorated with traditional ornaments and taken out in procession along the temple streets. The chief priest Kidambi Venugopalan performed Kumbaharati and Vedaparanayam. Devotees threw salt and pepper under the chariot wheels seeking deliverance from their sins. The temple precincts’ echoed with Namo Narasimha saying. The Allagada Congress in-charge Prabhakar Reddy, market yard chairman Palasani Balireddy and temple manager Narasaiah also participated. Source:The Hans India, ***
