Leading world producers of civilian planes and equipment from 18 countries are taking part in the third international air show- “India Aviation—2012”in Haiderabad from March 14-18. Participating in the Indian show are Airbus, Boeing, Bombadier, Dassault and Embraer companies. Russia is represented by the Unified Aviation construction corporation, which is showcasing the new “Superjet-100 plane”- a more economical plane which offers high passenger comfort. It is also energy efficient. The Superjet-100 plane is 15 per cent cheaper than its rivals. There is going to be a special presentation of the Russian plane to airline companies and the press, as well as a demonstration flight. A model of the promising MC-21 will be on display. The engine of the plane, the result of collaboration between the French Specta company and the Russian Saturn is the high mark of the Superjet -100. The latest innovative technology was used in the design of the engine, which helps to achieve a saving of 12 per cent in fuel consumption. The Superjet has been certified by the European agency for aviation safety, enhancing its marketing and exploitation possibilities, especially in Europe. Today, leading plane manufacturers are turning their attention to the fast growing Asian markets, which hold the records for passenger planes acquisitions. Vietnam, Malaysia and of course, India are the leaders in this respect, says Olga Kaukova. “We rate India as the fastest growing market for passenger planes, and we therefore expect to sell around one hundred MC-21 and Superjet planes to the nation in the next 20 years”. Said Olga Kaukova. The model of the MC-21 liner was shown at the Farnborough and Le Bourget Air Shows, as well as in Singapore. Experts rate it as the best in the medium range planes class. It has a capacity of 150-180 passengers, depending on modifications. The Superjet and MC-21 have strong rivals in Embraer and Bombadier. The MC-21 faces stiff competition from Airbus and Boeing. However, the MC-21 has advantages over its rivals. Commercial exploitation of the Russian plane is due to start in 2017, and there are already 235 orders waiting to be fulfilled.
