Mani’s film takes off

After the disastrous ‘Raavan’, ace director Mani Ratnam has started canning his fresh directorial ‘Kadal’, a bilingual, Tamil and Telugu, without much hype in Manapad, a fishery coast between Tuticorin and Tiruchendur in Tamil Nadu. The film which stars Samantha and Tamil actor Karthik’s son Gautham in the lead sees Mani returning to his favoured theme, romance. The film, we hear, is titled tentatively as ‘Kadali’ in Telugu. A romantic entertainer set in the backdrop of lives of fisherman, the film also sees the likes of Action King Arjun Sarja, Arvind Swamy and Lakshmi Manchu in pivotal roles. Speaking about the film, “Cuts, bruises, sprains, scratches and sun burn... Yep, I am shooting for a Mani Ratnam film :) life is delicious,” tweeted actress Laksmi Manchu who happens to be a big fan of the maker. She is debuting into Tamil cinema with ‘Kadal’. The ‘Bombay’ director’s trusted aides- Musician AR Rahman, Editor Sreekar Prasad and cameraman Rajeev Menon are lending their support to the technical department of the film Source: The Hans India. ***
