Maori kapa haka expert launches the Snooze Cube

By: Yasmin Ginai , AUCKLAND: Besides being a kapa haka expert, Wetini Mitai-Ngatai has diversified his interests to include traveler’s comfort needs by launching the‘Snooze Cube’.The‘Snooz Cube’is a  sound proof  compact unit comprising of a bed, small desk, LCD television, music player and Internet access. This innovative business venture was headed by Mitai-Ngatai and his business partner Larry Swann. Ten cubes have already been launched at the Dubai International Airport with a further 40-50 contracted to be installed over the next 5 years. Travelers looking for peace of mind from the hassle and bustle of the busy international airport can pay around $15-$20 for an hour in the ‘Snooze Cube’. An alarm is sounded when time is up and to prevent travelers from missing their flights the alarm continues until the cube has been vacated. Built in Hamilton, the ‘Snooze Cube’ was invented 4 years ago by Swann. Both partners have been working on the idea ever since. The first public launch of the ‘Snooze Cube’ was at the Passenger Terminal Expo 2009 in London. Mitai-Ngatai and Swann look to launch more ‘Snooze Cubes’ across airports globally and have already seen keen interest shown by the Middle Eastern and European markets. Source: Bikya Masr
