Pentagon in 'superbomb' bid

According to US media, the Congress has quietly approved an $80-million fast-track programme for the American military to develop what is intended to become the world’s most powerful non-nuclear bomb. Called the Massive Ordnance Penetrator, the device will contain 13.5 tons of explosive and should be capable of destroying well-protected underground targets. The superbomb project is apparently part of America’s preparations for attacking Iran. Experts say, however, that they have serious doubts as to whether the device will be able to damage Iran’s main uranium enrichment plant.
