Spykar to introduce an innerwear range

Fashion United: Known for its denim and casual wear range, Spykar Lifestyle is all set to introduce an innerwear line early this year. Commenting on the new addition, Sanjay Vakharia, Director Marketing says, “It will be a peppy line with a lot of fashion associated with Spykar. But the line won’t retailed through hosiery stores it will be available exclusively at our stores. The price will be from Rs 200 and there will be 30 to 35 options.” Vakharia has been associated with Spykar since its inception in 1992. He has been primarily responsible for the brand image that Spykar enjoys today and is accountable for the overall marketing and brand communication strategies of the company. With a turnover of Rs 280 crores, the company is looking to increasing it to Rs 500 crores by 2014. Talking about the e-retailing initiatives the company has undertaken, Vakharia says, “Since we speak to the young, we are in e-retailing. Consumers will buy clothes online if they are accustomed to a brand. Indeed, experimentation can’t happen over the net since there are touch and feel and fit issues.” Best known for its denims, Spykar’s range of denim wear is priced between Rs 1,800 to Rs 3,500, casual shirts are from Rs 1,500 to Rs 1,800, T-shirts between Rs 700 to Rs 1,200. In accessories, the company has some licensed products and an own line that includes eyewear priced between Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000, belts and wallets costing from Rs 500 to Rs 1,500. Currently the collection is present in 254 exclusive franchise outlets. Explaining the retailing strategy, Vakharia says, “We look for a minimum of 500 sq. ft. carpet area. In the next three years, we should have some 400 outlets. We are also present in some 1,200 MBOs across India and will look to expand as the opportunity rises. We were one of the first brands to move to Tier II and III cities seven years back and are one of the first brands to open in Tier IV markets.” Source: Fashion United
