Poet Karen Khurshudyan named Knight of France's National Order of Merit


Armenian poet and Writers' Union member Karen Khurshudyan has been named a Knight of France’s National Order of Merit by President Emmanuel Macron.

In a statement on Saturday, Khurshudyan expressed deep gratitude to France, calling the honor a recognition of his long-standing dedication to the preservation and promotion of the Armenian language, church, culture and national identity.

“Who could have imagined that a 'stranger' poet arriving in France in 2005 would become the first Armenian from Armenia to receive this high state award in 2025?” he wrote.

He dedicated the award to those who supported him on his journey.The National Order of Merit (Ordre national du Mérite) is one of France’s highest honors, awarded for distinguished services in public, civil, military or professional life. Source Article
