CartoonCharacter KingJulien for President of Pakistan!

PTI, Islamabad: If young Pakistanis had their way, they would make sure that the cartoon character King Julien from the film Madagascar is the hottest candidate for post of President when their country goes  to  polls  next.  King Julien is a strong contender for the top post because he will put his '100 per cent' into everything that he does as President; the only ‘NRO’ he will pass will be the "National Rock 'n' Roll Order"; and he will not try to flirt with Sarah Palin and tell her that she was better off "fighting grizzly bears in Alaska", or so say young Pakistanis. So far, King Julien has over 6,000 fans in the virtual world and the number is likely to multiply as the presidential election scheduled for 2013 nears. The creator of the King Julien group on Facebook, Zubair Nabi has been listing reasons why the cartoon character would make a good President. "Reason number 6: King Julian is going to make sure that minorities, both religious and ethnic enjoy equal rights in Pakistan across the board," Nabi posted on King Julien’s fan page on Facebook Once King Julien is in his seat, it would be ‘illegal’ to call anyone an American, Indian or Israeli agent "just for the sake of winning an argument".Source: The Asian Age, ***

Laugh your way to good health

Laughing
By Ch Saibaba: Every morning this laughing club risks amused glances and jibes when they look up at the sky, take a deep breath of clear, fresh air, and erupt into wild spontaneous laughter. Members of ABC Laughing Club practising hasya yoga The meetings of ABC Laughing Club are perhaps the most serious health activities happening in the city. The group meets at Picket Cantonment Garden at Secunderabad everyday between 6.45 am and 7.45.am. This is a group of more than 50 people so dedicated to preserving their sense of humour, and thereby their sanity, that they happily give up an hour of their sleep to practice hasya yoga, a workout for your funny bone.By simulating laughter and mirth, one can actually fool those endorphins into doing some overtime, says Madan Kataria, the founder of this unique form of exercise. “Feel-good chemicals are released in the brain when you laugh, but if you waited around for something funny to happen, you could go a whole day without cracking a smile. Now, isn't that a waste of a day?” he asks. Joining the group of merry people and taking a place in the laughing circle seems like a positive step towards health and happiness. Each session, with different kinds of laugh, lasts almost an hour, and consists of warm-up and breathing exercises as well. Then one undergoes the entire spectrum of delight: from grunts to giggles, from guffaws to crackles, from smirks to grins. The club consists mostly of people in the age group of 50 and above, and they say that they have derived real benefits from their morning ha-ha. Blood pressure has stabilised, stress-levels have been reduced and the heart is kept happy with this fantastic form of what they say amounts to "internal jogging". Sreenivasa Rao, an active member of the ABC Laughing Club says, “We have been doing this laughing exercise since1998. Since then, our membership has gone up to 70 and our aim is “Always be cheerful” and we are enjoying and experiencing the same.Source: The Hans India, Image: flickr.com

'CID' completes 15 years: Daya, lash gayee kahan?

Interest of Indian audience in crime related shows is immense. And team C.I.D. has been gladly encashing the same from years. Neither all the episodes have a great story to tell, nor does the show have best of acting talent. Then what really keeps the audiences glued to the show? Probably, it is the famous dialogues of ACP Pradyuman which are enough to make you laugh. He has repeated them so many times in 15 years that almost everyone remembers them now. So here are some of his favorite dialogues... Akhir lash gayee kahan? (Where is the dead body?), Daya, goli seene mein lagi hai matlab kisi ne samne se goli chalayi hai. (Daya, the bullet has hit his chest. That means someone has shot him from front), Daya: Sir darwaza to lock hai. ACP: Toh darwaza tod do. (Daya: Sir the door is locked. ACP: Then break it.), Daya, pata lagao, koi na koi suraag toh jaroor milega. (Daya find out there must be some clue.) Ab puri zindagi sadte rehna jail mein. (Now spend the rest of your life in prison.), Is laash ka muh to ab Salunke hi khulwayega. (Only Dr Salunke will be able to tell more about the dead body now.),  Kuchh to gadbad hai Daya. (Daya something is really fishy here.), Yeh aise nahi batayega, isse bureau le chalo. (He will not open his mouth like this, take him to the bureau.), Kanoon ko hath me lena bahot mehnga pdega. (You will have to pay a heavy price for breaking the law.), Ab din ginte rehna, fasi ka order ane tak. (Keep counting your days till you get a death sentence) Source: The Way I See It
