London Tourism Rises Thanks to Royal Wedding

London tourism remains strong in the second quarter thanks to Royal wedding and Champions League final. London welcomed 4.03 million tourists during second quarter, an increase of 12.6 per cent.According to official figures, additional 450,000 tourists visited London during April to June. Second quarter traditionally performs well due to events like Wimbledon and Chelsea Flower Show. However this time around Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, along with UEFA Champions League Final between Barcelona andManchester United were biggest tourists puller. All major markets for London posted healthy growth. Tourists from North America increased 8.6 per cent while 10.4 per cent from Europe. Rest of the world performed better with 20.9 per cent increase in arrivals over same period in 2010. The mayor of London is very delighted with the tourism figures and remained confident of strong arrivals during the London Olympics next year. Some experts however like to point out that figures are not that impressive considering 6 days shutdown of UK airspace last year in April that cost London thousands of tourists. Source: Easy Destination Blog
